A More Practical Need
by: Anonymous (A minister’s widow)
I wanted to share a thought with you. I didn’t want to say this in public, but one thing the church I attend is sorely missing is a practical ministry that offers services to widows, such as lawn care, repairs, etc.
When my husband (a minister) passed in 1996 at the age of 46, one adjustment I found difficult was the expense of home repair.
He was a jack of all trades.
No one in the church has ever offered me any help in this area, after all these years.
We do have a widows’ dinner with about fifteen widows every few months, which is wonderful. But I’m talking about meeting a more practical need, especially early on, which would be such a blessing.
I’m not sure why people don’t seem to think of this need, but it’s a big one!
